Parliamentary testing event with MPs
On July 52016, we hosted a valve disease check-up event at UK Parliament in London. MPs were offered both stethoscope checks with cardiologists and cardiac nurses to see if their heart valves were functioning normally. Tom Brake MP (Carshalton and Wallington) and Karin Smyth MP (Bristol South) kindly sponsored the event.
The check-up and drop-in event was attended by over 42 MPs who were all interested in learning more about what heart valve disease is, who it affects, and what can be done to better diagnose and treat the condition. We will be having several follow-up meetings with MPs who we met at the event, to discuss how they can support our future campaigns.
