Chris Geere Reads Book

Monday 1st July 2019

In September 2019, Heart Valve Voice will be participating in the European Heart Valve Disease Awareness Week. Children across the UK will be sitting down together to read Grandad’s Heart Valve Disease Story. The story is based on a true relationship between a young boy, his sister and hid grandad. The book goes through the stages of grandad’s heart valve disease through the perspective of a child.

Each school will receive hard copies of the book and handouts on heart valve disease which can be brought home to their older relatives. A USB card containing information on heart valve disease, an audio version of the book and a video. The video and audio will be narrated by Hollywood actor, Chris Geere and recorded at St. Bedes college in Manchester.

Chris is best known for his performance as Roger Clifford in the new Pokemon Detective Pikachu movie and his recurring role in American TV Series Modern Family. “I had a such a lovely time reading My Granddad’s Heart Valve Disease Story with the kids,” said Chris. “They seemed to really grasp the content and I think it helps that the book was written by a kid for kids as it makes it more relatable for them. Anyone who is affected by heart valve disease can sit down and read the book with the kids in their life to give them a better understanding of what is happening, it’s a really helpful resource.”

We’re still reaching to primary schools to get involved in the week so if you know of any schools that will be interested please contact us at awarenessweek@heartvalvevoice.com or access the digital copy on our website
